We exist to draw clear lines.

The biggest risk in AI adoption is not the technology itself. It is what happens when organizations blur the lines between what AI should do autonomously and what humans must decide.

The founding insight

ZebraZones was founded by practitioners who are used to implementing AI in high-stakes environments: investment management, legal services, regulated industries. The recurring pattern was not model failure. It was boundary failure.

Well-intentioned AI deployments that slowly expanded scope beyond what had been validated. Handoffs between AI and human reviewers that were ambiguous enough to slip through without meaningful review. Audit questions that could not be answered because the system had not been designed with auditability in mind.

The zone model emerged from asking a simple question: what would it look like to make these boundaries explicit, enforced, and auditable from the beginning?

What we are not

  • Not a general AI consultancy. We specialize in agentic AI: systems that take actions, not just generate text.
  • Not a technology vendor. We are implementation partners. We work with your existing stack and the AI providers that fit your requirements.
  • Not a black-box solution provider. Everything we build is explainable, auditable, and yours. No vendor lock-in, no magic.

Our principles

01

Safety by structure

Zones are technical constraints, not guidelines. AI cannot act outside its designated zone. The boundaries are architecturally enforced.

02

Auditability first

Every AI action is logged. Every human approval is timestamped. Full audit trail, always. Compliance teams can see exactly what happened and why.

03

No black boxes

We only use AI systems that can explain their reasoning. Opacity is a risk, not a feature. Every AI output includes its sources and confidence.

04

Reversibility

We allow AI to make low-stakes decisions. They must be easy to reverse by another agent and the human operator.

05

Start small, scale deliberately

We begin with a single validated use case that is tightly scoped. Expand to additional workflows from there.
